Born in Portland, Maine, Spaltro is a retired USAF Veteran turned screenwriter/filmmaker. He’s since written 9 features, 4 TV pilots, and 6 shorts, earning over 88 awards, with accolades from the Nicholls, Page International, Final Draft, Austin Film Festival, American Zoetrope, and more.

CIGAR BOX LETTERS is a 2023 Nicholl Academy Semifinalist & Page International Finalist.​ His dark thriller feature, COMPASS HILL, is a Coverfly Top 2% of its platform’s over 123,000 projects, with his 2022 Page Finalist Award. His drama feature, STILL, trails at Coverfly’s Top 2% of all projects, and his TV pilot, WASHED a Top 4%, a Shore Scripts Winner in 2018.


He produced his first short film, APPLE: When the last two alive on Earth are a ten-year-old boy and girl, compromise and navigating through their differences is the only chance for humankind.

His next short film, MILLY & MILO, a proof of concept for a feature adaptation: A trans woman Vietnam Veteran seeks an old Army friend she’s always loved. It's now competing in the 2024 film festival season!
